‘Nothing without joy: Why Malaguzzi got it right’
Despina Sakoulogeorga is a pre-K and kindergarten teacher with more than twelve years of teaching experience. She holds a PhD from the University of Thessaly in typical and atypical development of social understanding and a Master’s degree in Basic and Applied Cognitive Science (NKUA).
She is member of the Reggio Inspired Network of Greece, the National Association for Gifted Children and the Hellenic Society for the Educational Provision of the Creative/ Gifted Children and Adolescents. Her research interests focus on social and emotional understanding, cognitive development, giftedness, twice exceptional children, creativity practices and inclusion policies.
Some words about our Workshop: ‘Nothing without joy: Why Malaguzzi got it right’
Joy is one of the four basic motivating emotions of the human being! Joy for young children derives from many factors, but is mainly intertwined with play. This presentation will highlight the benefits that joy through play can have in the cognitive development and academic achievement in preschool and school-aged children.
